Farmer Portraits

While scrolling through some of my favorite food blogs, I ran across a page on Tana Butler's small farm website I Heart Farms.  Seeing her wonderful portraits of farmers and the small story lines that accompany them reminded me of my days in the Chicago area doing similar portraits.  It reminds us that our farm market and CSA farmers possess wonderful tenacity, gracious humor, and wisdom from working the land.  Stop to chat with them at the market and you will learn a great deal and have a smile or two in the process!  Here's one of my favorite farmer portraits from Kinnickinnic Farm in New Caledonia, IL.
